Haunted By Murder

Wednesday’s Weekly Write-Up:

Hallmark’s Haunted By Murder: An Aurora Teagarden Mystery

One of the things I love about Hallmark mystery movies is that I know there won’t be a ton of gore, foul language, or scenes which give my overactive imagination nightmares for days.  Even with this spooky house storyline, I knew I could watch it before falling asleep without it haunting my dreams.

Haunted by Murder is an Aurora Teagarden Mystery. The main character, known as Roe, is based off of Charlaine Harris’s novels. Harris has not written any of the film scripts, but the first movies were loosely based off of her books. There are 10 books in the series and 18 movies so far from Hallmark, plus a recent release of a younger different cast taking us back to before Roe and Arthur were dating. A fun fact for Haunted by Murder is that the two main female leads have their daughters, Natasha Bure and Mia Shanks, play younger high school versions of their characters, Roe and Sally.

Roe is a librarian (played by Candace Cameron Bure) with a knack for stumbling onto dead bodies and solving the crimes. She is a member of the Real Murders Club where they discuss previous cases, cold cases, and the ones Roe inadvertently encounters. Throughout the Hallmark series the cast has changed frequently, but a few regulars are always present and add charming and funny subplots. This being Hallmark, there is always a touch of romance mixed in with the murder mystery and I love the combination.

This particular episode has a ghostly romance added with a nice spooky ending (in a G rated kind of way). Aside from the dead bodies and character’s who want to kill, this show is family friendly at least for pre-teen and up. It is a charming mystery that won’t haunt your dreams. Enjoy.
